Watering Holes: A Tribute to Australia’s Bitters-Slinging Legends
Welcome to Watering Holes, the page where Lemon Lime Bitters lovers unite in pursuit of the perfect pour. Whether it’s a sun-faded pub in the outback, a sleek city bistro, or a roadside servo with surprisingly good glassware, this is where we celebrate every venue that serves Australia’s beloved bittersweet nectar.
From classic hotels with sticky carpets and stories in the walls, to beachside bars where the lime hits different in the salt air—every spot has its own take on the iconic drink. Here, you’ll find videos, photos, cheeky commentary, and honest ratings from fellow enthusiasts who know their bitters from their soda water. No snobbery, no fluff—just real Aussie feedback, one tall glass at a time.
Got a favourite watering hole where the bartender nails the bitters-to-lime ratio? Drop a pin, leave a comment, and give it a rating. Whether it’s the garnish, the glass, or the vibe that makes it special, we want to know. This isn’t just a directory—it’s a living map of Australia’s Lemon Lime Bitters culture, built by the people who drink it best.
So scroll through, sip slowly, and enjoy the ride. The next great bitters might be just around the corner.

Hi! We’re Deale and Elisa Stanley-Hunt, founders of Slipstream Brewing. When we started the business back in 2017, we wanted a place where we could share our passion for great beer and delicious food with locals, and help take them on a journey of the senses.
Our original home in Yeerongpilly on the south side of Brisbane has become a firm favourite for the community, with countless dinners, lunches, parties, anniversaries and celebrations held over the years, where customers can enjoy fresh and flavourful beers right by the tanks where those beers were made. -
The Normanby Hotel, an original pub of Brisbane, has stood in exactly the same place for over 130 years. Since opening, it’s been a legendary spot to catch up, unwind and create memories.
As soon as you step inside this living legend, you feel its character and history. With soaring ceilings, wraparound balconies, a lively beer garden, and a bistro full of charm, it’s the ultimate spot to dine, drink and hang out.
Whether it’s to watch live sports, have a meal with friends, enjoy an icy cold drink or celebrate a special occasion, The Normanby is where Brisbane comes together. -
The Pineapple Hotel is a proud family-owned establishment, just minutes from the CBD and the world-famous Gabba Sports Ground.
We love to grab cold beers with our mates, sip on freshly made cocktails with the girls and catch up with the crew.
Having stood proud for 160 years, it’s safe to say we’re doing something right!
